Deschutes Basin Water Banking
Fluent is working with the Deschutes River Conservancy and partners to develop a pilot water bank and help modernize water management in the basin.
Additional ProjectsThis collaborative project with the Pacific Institute was done to socialize a simple cost-effectiveness metric, the Levelized Cost of Water, for companies to use along with other considerations when choosing which projects to fund in their Corporate Water Stewardship programs.
In 2023, AMP Insights was contracted by the Oregon Water Resources Department to articulate the business case for investing in water in Oregon. The purpose of the report is to provide a basis for legislative and other investments in water and related issues now and into the future.
AMP Insights staff have supported the Walker Basin Restoration Program since 2010. Under Public Law 111-85, the Walker Basin Restoration Program (WBRP) is charged with restoring and maintaining Walker Lake, as well as protecting agricultural, environmental, and habitat interests consistent with that primary purpose.
Working with researchers at the Pacific Institute, AMP developed a series of blueprints for innovative, collaborative mechanisms to marry corporate water stewardship funding with other sources of funding including public funds and impact investing.

AMP Insights worked with the Water in the West program at Stanford University’s Woods Institute for the Environment to design and implement a scoring and ranking of Colorado River Basin states’ legal approaches to approving environmental water transfers and protecting approved environmental flows.
AMP Insights conducted a basin-wide analysis of the Rio Grande/Río Bravo to assess the value of water in the economy. This was accomplished through an in-depth policy analysis, as well as a time-series analysis of demographic, land use, water use and economic changes in this water scarce and urbanizing basin.

Work in the Verde River watershed of central Arizona began in 2014 with a feasibility study for a groundwater mitigation program to mitigate for the impacts of groundwater pumping on Verde River flows. After two years of extensive analysis, stakeholder input and program design, the Verde River Exchange was launched in 2016.
